Involving community members in schools will help them to understand how their local school operates and uses their tax dollars. Schools and students benefit when parents and others volunteer.
In turn, involving students in their community will teach them how their community functions, and prepare them to participate in the civic process. Service learning opportunities can excite students while benefiting the community.
